hi family! I do come on here occasionally to check up. It is true, I wil lbe going to India (Bombay, specifically) for eight weeks starting at the end of May. I'll be making a blogspot to document the trip, so I will put a link up here closer to that time. good to hear from everyone :)
Good morning all. laying in bed this a.m. listening to 30-40 mph winds reminded me of those wintry days on Iowa farm. At least now I'm warm!! Have had to plow driveway twice this year, compared with none all last winter. Ryan & Ellyes Xmas pageant was cancelled yesterday. Had to stay home and watch my Patriots play horrible and still win!! Kids pageant will be next Sun. followed by family Xmas at Tammys new home in Ct. Linda is progressing well. We are actually going to meet friends at Foxwood Casino for dinner and some charitable contributions to the needy Indians!! Leaving for Florida on 30th and can't wait. We return by Super Bowl Sunday to hopefully see Patriots run the table. Then in Feb. we are visiting Rebecca and family in Phoenix for a week. So busy. Will have computer with me on trips so will check and contribute to blog. By the way, for those of us not in the core family cabal, please let us know who these cousins, nieces, etc. families are! I can't remember who belongs to who!!! Katie is latest example. I know Kara but not Katie. If we open up to all family, which is great, family reference would help. Linda is not sending Xmas cards this year as our computer crashed with all the data. To difficult to reconstruct in time. So from Linda and I, our wishes for a joyous and wonderful Christmas and New Year. May all Christs blessings be on you and your families. Love- Bro Ed
I assume that is the Katie from Ms Jenny Smith/Johnson family. How exciting to be going to India in May. Lets hear some more, Katie, about what you will be doing there. School? teaching? We cant wait til May to hear your documenting of the trip. Spill the beans and give us a clue. And Becky, I want to hear more about that family that made the home-school video that your dad sent to us. It was great. I kept looking to see if I could recognize any of the children as yours and realized it was another whole family. And they live in that wood house?? It was such a clever video. When are you making yours??? And just have to say, that Elizabeth and Josh's family christmas card was phenomenal. What a beautiful family. Roseanne, lets have an address for Christian, please. And Peg, as for those spritz cookie photos, what are you trying to do, make the rest of us feel guilty for not making them. That last photo looked good enough to reach out and eat. Martha Stewart food ad dept, here you come!!!!!! I finally got Jon Michaels address down here. Out of the 85 John Lennons in the metro Atlanta area, there was only one JON. God bless Marilyn for thinking ahead to naming Jon with a different spelling for that very reason. Im looking forward to hearing from some of the other "Lennon"cousins on the blog. Oh, yes, a lovely photo came today of Ann and Joe's lovely children in St. Louis. Another lovely family. Im so thrilled to get these photos of the neices and nephews families. God bless you all. Love, Bonnie
I am in a bit of a pause right now as Beth is preparing a bite to eat & then she wants to make caramel corn afterward so I will try to get a few words in before my night gets tied-up. We sure are glad the big winter storm waited until this last Sunday to hit as the week before was filled with all those school kid talent shows. Two Sunday's ago was the big band playing - Becky had a couple girls playing violin. Like Mary said, these kids are really talented. Then there was the Homeschooler's Hoopla on Monday night - a show of all their classroom studies plus music, dancing, acting, etc. It was over two hours of almost nonstop activities. I think we have a granddaughter who is a real story writer!!! Then Wednesday night of the same week we had a wonderful group get-together with all those involved in the Lennon Center. Got to meet some new, wonderful people. Then Thursday night we went to see "Little Women" directed by Becky. Again, just a first class, professional job with a packed house. They are going to do "Pride & Prejudice" in May, 2008. Of course Sunday we did not go anywhere as I didn't get the 12-inches of snow blown out of the driveway until about 5pm. This week is pretty typical of the activities that keep Beth & I so busy. We start this Friday with the Christmas gift exchange with Tim & Sheila & family. Then Sunday we do it with Mike, Katherine & family before we take them to the airport for a week-plus stay at Disney World. As you might have guessed by now, Beth's foot is healing pretty well - just a little swelling. By the way, Ed's suggestion on identification is great as we too did not know who Katie was & also like Bonnie asked, what are you, Katie, going to Bombay to do? Peg, we still do not know when we will be making the Chicago/Joliet trip for the Lennon Center goodies. Just haven't had the time to put it all together yet. Otherwise, everyone here is doing pretty well. Do hope to hear from others and especially some of those nieces & newphews & whoever else that can keep us informed as to the goings-on in the Lennon family. We are still working on our Christmas letter so in case it comes late, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone out there. Love, Deacon Joe
this is katie, joann's granddaughter/jennifer's daughter. i am going to bombay for a mission trip. we will be there eight weeks visiting slums, schools in the slums, helping out at a medical camp, etc.
Katie is my oldest daughter. She had a great semester at Southern Nazarene University, where she's in her 2nd year, following in one of the family's chosen professions, teaching. We are all very excited and proud of the work she will be doing in India. She'll be working in the ghettos of Bombay (I think it is now known as Mumbai). I don't think she'll be the same woman when she gets back.
A quick Spritz cookie story...I'm reminded of the time we went to Grandma's over the holidays (it must have been just after Christmas because I only remember spending one actual Christmas at Grandma's growing up) and Grandma had a bunch of Spritz cookies, which I feel in LOVE with, so much so that I ate too many and spent much of the evening with my head in the potty! Strange, but that is one of my favorite memories of Grandma and Christmas, although I've never been able to face another spritz cookie!
This is for the other cousins reading this. I was at Wal-Mart a few months back and saw a yellow cereal bowl with a straw in the side. I bought one on the spot and put it on a top shelf in my cabinet for the day I have grandchildren. I can't wait to see which one will win the prize of getting to have Honeycombs out ot the best bowl "Grandma" has!
So good to hear from you, Katie and Jenny. Loved your spritz story even if it did sour you for life on spritz. You reminded me of a story about you, Jenny, one summer at Grandmas house. You and Laura were in highchairs and Grandma was passing out ice cream cones to all of the grandchildren. She gave you and Lauras first since you were the babies (about a year old) And when she had made the rounds to all the grandkids, she came back and found you with none(you had eaten the entire cone while she dished up)so she said, "Oh Jenny, I forgot you" and gave you a second one. Thats how fast you could eat ice cream!!!! Thanks for sharing on the blog, and hope we will hear from you again. Merry Christmas, Love, Bonnie
Mary, it was soooo great to hear from you..Thanks Love m
