First off, I think it would be great to hear from the nieces and nephews. So go to it, young people!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you Kara!!! It took awhile, but you have done it-a young woman with a lot of grit, perseverance and determination!!! I think it is wonderful for you to fulfill your dream. As a great aunt, I am so proud of you!!!!
This past few days has been full of Christmas preparation. Cathy was getting a box ready to send to Christina, so I spent one day baking cookies, so she could send some varieties to Christina. I also had to bake 3 dozen for church so they can make cookie plates for the Dorothy Day Center to distribute on Christmas day to the clients.
Friday morning I wrote a short letter to send to friends and relatives. Now I have to personalize them, and get them mailed during the Christmas season.
Yesterday, Ed and I put up our Christmas tree-or more accurately, decorated it. We put out the creche with Mary and Joseph and the donkey. All that took several hours. We realize how hard it would be to do all of this alone, and are grateful we still have each other.
This afternoon we,( Sue, Ed and I), went to Symphony Hall to hear the Messiah sang. It was beautiful music- and like an hour and one-half of meditation on Christ's life. Very inspiring.
Tomorrow I go for a bone density test. Just routine. Last time I went it was very good. I hear sister Julie's was not so good! Doctor wants to quadruple her calcium intake from what she had been taking.
Wednesday, we have committed to going over to Paul's place and I will work on cleaning; Ed and Paul will work on his radiator heating system for onoe thing. I haven't been there since May, so I'm sure there will be much to do.
On Thursday, Ed, Paul and I will attend the Christmas play or program at St. Pascals. Both Izzy and Nick will be in the program. That is part to the joy of being grandparents. Sue will attend the evening performance at 7:00PM. (Paul is off work next week-forced vacation:take it or lose it.
Last week end we were in Duluth so we could attend a concert by East High School Students. Becky has been in a select group, called the Choraliers (16 kids), and she is in the acapella choir. So we got to see her on stage about six different times. She has an especially nice voice-like her mother! Anyway, the whole show was impressive as choirs and bands and orchestras were showcased. It is a marvelous gift of God to see all these young people committed to studying music and to see how gifted they are. We were so glad we had the opportunity to go!
Tuesday night I have my diabetes Support Group. I plan to find out from people there about how the public can go walk at the high school track either early in the morning or later evening. I have heard we pay $30.00 each and have the right to walk there from November to April. It would be good to find a place to walk in the winter out of the harsh weather
Presently, I have a one month free trial at Curves. It is my first try. It is really not bad. I have to watch that I do the machines gently (as I do not want to aggravate my neck problems or lower back.) But I can tell the difference already in just two weeks. And There is a bit of an aerobic workout, too, which I'll never get walking with Ed .
I still have many things to complete before Christmas. Christmas Eve, I will have Sue and Paul for dinner and Christmas exchange before the 10:00 PM Mass. I have to make the lasagna for that.
On Christmas Day, Cathy and Guy will join Ed, Paul and I for Christmas dinner at Sue's place. The following Saturday, Chris's family and Phil's family will celebrate with us at Cathy's house. So it should be a nice time together-and it will last almost a week!!
Love hearing how all is going for all of you and what you are up to.On the news it sounds like you have had your share of ice and snow! I will close for now. Keep writing on the blog.
Love, Mary C
