Christmas Here We Come!!

Kathe and I are shortly catching a train into downtown Chitown for our two night stay at the Renaissance Hotel. The winds are blowing fiercely and snow blowing. Alicia is going to meet us this pm for some shopping, dinner and hot tubbing.
We understand you all have upcoming fun in store so keep us posted! Julie is in Clinton and we hear Kevin is back in Iowa so we hope to hear from him and they are going to be with Jerry I think. Brian called several of us and told us Merry Christmas and it was good to hear from him also. Pat and MJ leave Monday for Madison to be with their girls...Roseanne and Tom are doing some things on his side of the family and we are hoping to see them as I said on New Years Weekend. Hopefully Jo and Bob can come up for a stay at that time...keep your fingers crossed.
Instead of gifts this year, Kathe, Pat and MJ, and I and maybe Julie are donating money to Kathe's choice this year: Fischer House, which is where families of wounded soldiers can stay at no expense so they can be near their loved ones during their hospitalization and
rehabilitation. Any of you interested in joining our charity contribution in that regards, contact Kathe. Her son Brett (who called Fri night but got cut off the line for some reason) directed her to that charity as it is doing a lot of good according to Brett. He is struggling with the chores at hand over there this cold month...
Let's keep each other in our prayers..I love you all and Merry Christmas.XXOO Sissy P

Hi everyone,
It's Kathe here - excited about heading down to the big city for the holiday. I love you all
and wish you a blessed Christmas.
Love and prayers,
Kathe

  1. Hi...a quiet Christmas Eve here in Lake St. Louis.....the evening brings back memories of the Christmas evenings that go back many more years than I care to mention. Mary will remember how she accidently broke her fast for my First Communion the Christmas of 1943 at St. Mary`s in Ottumwa. I can still remember looking for the Aunt`s on my way back from the communion rail..and how bad Mary felt.
The wreath cookies reminded me of how Mom would make cookies and candy....I can still see her, in the dining room on Dewhurst St., putting together the boxes of candy for the nuns at St. John`s and the neighbors. In the later years, the closet off the dining room and the attic were where she would store her treasures......
Everyone in our family, through the years, brought something to make our Christmas celebration special to all our family....especially for the little ones...I consider myself very blessed to be a part of the Lennon clan...what a wonderful family...!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to ALL of you....Love, Jo

  2. Jo, that was beautiful. I too cherish the memories of bieng happily married into this wonderful family. You all have your own special gift to bring to the family circle and each of those gifts were a blessing to each of the others.Just got an e-mail from Al Benson in NAPA valley, and you have no idea what wonderful stories he can tell of your parents ealier years.Recently discoved a pile of old letters from Mom and Dad, back when and as I reread them the tears could not stay away, as I relived those good ole days of yore. I try to share as many of those good memories as possible with my own children as they live in such a different world, where many traditions seem to die along the way. We have not been looking for a WI this year but it seems that all the rest of creation is. Well, I must get ready for our warm-ups for Midnight Mass singing, and tomorrow will be 10;30 Mass and then off to my neices for Christmas dinner. God Bless you all with much peace and love.
    Love, Bonnie

  3. Just a quick note to add that Laura and Joseph called on Christmas day from Paris, France to wish everyone Merry Christmas. They had attended midnight Mass at Notre Dame and had enjoyed a dinner at a Parisian restaurant together. It was about 7:30 evening over there and 1:30 here so they were strolling the streets of Paris, and enjoying the beauty of the lights and embiance. Sarah, children, and I had a lovely dinner and day at my neice's home.
Jo, I have been thinking of your comment, and wondering??? You were celebrating your First Communion at Christmas?? How did Mary break the fast? Christmas cookies? I always want more information, should have been an investigative reporter I guess!!! But it does serve me well in my genealogy researching pursuits. Happy New Year, Love, Bonnie
