Post Wedding Blues and Birthdays

I wish to thank everyone for their birthday greetings. Last night, Kathe and I treated ourselves to an hour massage at my home, a wonderful dinner and I enjoyed an autumn walk that was truly stunning...I am so happy to be part of this loving family and that is my best birthday gift! I thank all of you who shared the day with me at Pat andMJ's home for the "afterglow" party Sunday. Kathe has expressed her thanks over and over for all the family's great efforts to show up for her lovely daughter's wedding.
I know that now that we are all back in our various homes and may not see each other for a while, it would be great to reconnect on the blog through the holiday season.
Pat and MJ are joining us tonight for birthday burgers at Anyways; Roseanne is joining Kathe and I for lunch at our favorite ladies restaurant; 71 degree temps are expected here over the next few days and hope you all enjoy your extra hour of sleep tonight.
My camera got fixed so I hope to get some photos back on the blog in due time.
Was that not a most beautiful wedding? Love m

  1. Hey Peg, Im waiting for those wedding photos, since I was not blessed to be there.
Happy Birthday to you three lovely sirens and prayers for many more birthdays.
I had a blast last night, as I doned my 25 year old gorilla suit and passed out bananas to the trick or treaters instead of candy. One little girl, as she ran down the driveway to her mom waiting at the curb, yelled, "Look mom, we even got healthy food!, and a gorilla gave it to me."
Turns out bananas are cheaper than candy.
Happy November and Happy Birthday to the rest of the Lennon clan with birthdays, Mike on the
11th and Patrick on the 15th. Peace, Bonnie

  2. Hello everyone! this has been a wild ride since we got homoe from Chicago. We want to thank Pat and Mary Jo for shariing their home with us . It was a great time to visit with Mike and Nancy and Tom and Jan on Thursday in downtown Chicago. We had a great school -bus experience to and from St. Patrick's on Saturday. The wedding was lovely-as was the reception. We were so happy to share the with Alicia and Norb beginning the journey of their lifetime- and with Jo and Bob, celebrating 50 years of experience!!! Then the party at Pat and Mary Jo's on Sunday was really special as everyone gathered for a few hours to share time with each other and to sing Happy Birthday to all the November birthday folks- as well as our dear blog-keeper, and sister, Peg. We did drive home Monday in the 'afterglow' of a wonderful time together.

On Tuesday morning, I went to volunteer in an 8th grade special ed classroom for an hour. There was a funeral Mass at 11:00AM so I hurried to church from school, arriving about 3 minutes before the funeral was to begin. I got to my place and realized that I needed to go to the pews in the church to get a hymnal. Well the sorry story is I walked off the edge of a two step riser, and landed in a heap on the concrete floor. My glasses were broken, my face was bleeding and the worst was the body slam I got in the fall-I swear I broke a rib. I went to the doctor and got 3 stitches on my cheek bone and the doctor did take x-rays of my ribs. Nothing showed up , but that has been by far the worst of the injuries: I hurt terribly getting up and down, cannot lift even light items above my head, or pull on my clothes; or cough, laugh or take a deep breath. And I have beauty of a shiner!!!

I still think I probably have a hairlind fracture of a rib. On Friday, I had my pre-op for my eye surgery. My doctor took me off ibuprofen and asperin prior to the surgery, so over the week-end, I really hurt. Monday I had the surgery on the right eye and the doctor said it went really well. (Thanks to all of you who kept me in your prayers.) The really good thing was that he gave me a high dose of tylenol for pain- and together with the after effects of the anesthesia, my body pains were totally dulled, So I am not taking meds for eye pain, but for my other pain!!!

Today we went to the eye doctor. He removed tne dressing and I was already seeing more that most usually see the first day, according to the nurse. He figures that this right eye will heal in a month or two. As you can see, we have been busy here running to doctors.

On the fourteenth we start with Ed for doctor appointments. This is the way we spend a lot of our time at this age. But we are blessed to have doctors to see and insurance to pay for it. I said to Ed if we didn't have insurance we could never afford all this care: and if we lived in an undeveloped country, I would have simply had to settle on going blind.

I thought of my sisters over the weekend, celebrating their time together.

We worked in the yard in the lovely warm, sunny fall weather-cleaning out the flower pots and stowing them for winter. We had a symphony on Saturday night and heard a pianist who was absolutely fabulous, playing Chopin. What a gift to have such an opportunity.

That is life here in the Mnpls.St.Paul area. Hope to hear from the rest of you. Love, Mary C

  5. Hi Everyone,

Well I am off from school today for Veteran's Day even though Veteran's Day is tomorrow. IL. has so many Monday holiday's that were not celebrated in IA, but I am not complaining.

Mary, I am so sorry to hear of your fall. Last spring my 72 yr. old sister did the same thing (fall flat on her face on concrete) as we hurrying to the play, Wicked, in downtown Chicago. I was right next to her. It was quite scary and I wasn't the "victim". Glad to hear of your successful eye surgery. Hope the body aches have eased up.

Bonnie, Pat has some wedding pictures so he is going to see about forwarding them as I mentioned it to him. Did you scare any of the little tykes with that gorilla suit? They aren't too afraid of much these days.

We were so glad to be able to house some Lennons for the wedding. It was a great weekend and a wonderful wedding! Kathe said last night that the honeymooners are safe and glad to be back home.

Speaking of last night. Julie, Bev, Pat, Kathe and I attended sister Peg's concert. It was Franz Joseph Haydn's opera of the Creation story. We were all surprised to see our out of character sister in an opera, but it was so professionally done. Then went to Omego for supper and saw the typical Peg back again!

Thoughts and prayers to everyone, and please let's hear from other family members again.

    Mary Jo and Pat
