ReplyDeleteHi Everyone, I wrote a LONG message on Monday but somehow it did not take. So I will try again.
ReplyDeleteOn Monday, I wanted to know if any of you were affected by the flooding that was supposed to have happened in Chicago by the 9 inch rain on Sunday?
We have been home since a week ago Sunday. I was on retreat with a Jesuit, Fr. Larry Gillick and a Sister Bernadette O'Reilly from Toronto, Canada. What a gift to have 2 1/2 days each year for a special time with the Lord. The framework of the retreat is the 30 Day Ignatian Exercises-so it is a really slimmed down version. But I''m sure God manages to do his work even in such limited circumstances!!
We will head for Duluth tomorrow to celebrate Matthew's 10th birthday. From there we will drive to the lake for our last stand this season. Sue will come this week-end and we will help her close out. Then some tome in the next week, depending on weather, temperatures and rain forecasts we will close out. We have to be home by next Sunday.
I am having trouble seeing these days. I cannot read my computer screen as I type this. I am having to use my sewing "eye" to read my books . I will see the eye doctor on September 29. When I saw him two weeks ago, he told me I have scar tissue behind the cataract lens and he proposes doing laser surgery to poke a hole in that tissue which if it works, will allow that eye to work properly. I have another kind of problem in my right eye. That problem is not serious enough yet for any work to be considered. Thdy want the vision to be at least 20;40; right now I am 20/30. But apparently, that would involve serious risk and one may choose to forego the remedy. So I ask all of you to pray that my left eye repair goes well and is effective. (In my book club, a woman had the laser surgery and it did not help!
I will hope this message goes through this time.
We are excited about our upcoming trip to Chicago. I sent Jo and Bob a card for their celebration on Sept. 22 with their family-of their 50th-which is actually, on October 25!!
Will close. I'll write again after September 29.
Love, Mary C ,
