I just talked with Kathe and we are both joyously looking forward to sun and 59 degrees hopefully this weekend. I feel a BBQ coming on.... I spoke with Roseanne via phone and she is with her daughter in Pittsburgh....Last weekend Julie and Bev were in town for our Glorious Theatre Experience called Jersey Boys as Mary Jo described so well on her comments section so thank you MJ for filling in that info... I of course have been "underground" for a few weeks....no, not CIA work but had new gal at front and basically had to take the helm for a while...it is still not over but getting better...We look forward to celebrating Mary Jo's birthday at the end of this month 26th actually and then we are getting together with kathe who is sponsoring a wee bit of a party for Emily's May birthday...Nettie visits me next weekend as far as I know and then Joanne comes in to have some Chicago fun in the second weekend of May..maybe it is the same weekend as Em's birthday I do believe...
Kathe and I are (of all people) staying in the Resort two extra nights in a log cabin. Tom and Jan are staying one extra night...but at this point we have to figure out a way to get into the Duluth airport early on Tuesday morning...and we actually have to check with mike to see if he can arrange to get us at the Duluth airport Friday when we fly in and try to hitch a ride somehow out to the resort....If anyone has any ideas to help us, let us know. We did actually find out that the resort does have a van if all else fails to get us to the airport on Tuesday.
That will be my first real vacation since visiting Brett in DC some years ago now...We are pretty excited to be seeing all you guys!!
I am going to now spend a whole night just on myself....hot tub, hair, nails, I just went for my walk and I plan to crash into bed and sleep for a long time.. Tomorrow night a pal of mine invited me into the Big City of Chicago to a guitar concert with someone I do not know but I will share with you the fun of it all..The sun is still shining in my backyard as the "glooming" begins (Roseanne's words) Please keep this thing alive and loved all the comments while I was OUT OF IT....Love and prayers to my delightful family.
Hi everyone!! I check in every morning and no one has blogged! Where is everyone? I think it is time for a dose of Biblical 7 times 70-and move on with what is really important in life. I had a most busy week last week.I was exhausted by Saturday. On Monday night, Ed and I attended a workshop on the process of dying given at our local hospital. There will be a second session this Monday night. I am determined that he and I get our medical directive completed and filed this time around. We can then set up an appointment in the near future to fill out a Five Wishes Document with some people trained to help. So that is our intention.
ReplyDeleteOn Tuesday, I had my book club. We were to have read Middlemarch by George Eliot. A very dense read with antiquated prose style. I simply did not get it read 700+ pages in two weeks. It took me an hour to read one chapter and there were numerous chapters. I knew I would never make even a few; so I gave up. (Now we are reading in the next month, War and Peace-1376 pages or so. It is an easier read though that was Middlemarch. It was my job to get a list for the 26 titles we will read for next year, so I spent several hours on that project last week and had it ready for review on Tuesday.
Tuesday night , I had a Social Justice Committee meeting.
Wednesday Am is our Bible Group-we go for two hours after Mass.
Thursday morning we go to St. Pascal's for the school Mass so we can go with Nick and Isabella. Then we shopped Sams and Cub.
We had our pastor for dinner Friday night. Ed has not rested until he had him here. I am not my mother-comfortable cooking for guests. But I managed and we had a very nice visit. We live normally in such a clutter here that I am never ready for guests to come to visit. So there was more than the dinner to cook-which I never feel too secure about doing either. But it is over. We do hope to have a couple from Church in one evening when they get back from vacation and hopefully before we head up to the lake.
The big wringer in the week was about two 1 1/2 hour meetings with some of our "association" members on concerns here in our complex. Officially, we are not a legal association yet, so we have no power.(A certain percentage of units must be purchased OR five years must pass from the first purchased home before we can become an association). But at a recent meeting, it was apparent that many folks are unhappy about various things-but the investors in this complex (who also have a home here) are apparently having trouble with the other declarant and wants to throw him out. Well, We do not know the answer to it, but we suspect that that is a legal matter outside the power of us owners and is very likely of the face of it not our business.(Now to the degree it may destablizie this community of owners, it could be our problem. Anyway, as a result of these two meetings, Ed agrees to write a letter to the association lawyer who is really on responsible to the Board, and not to us until we have power: so Sue, Ed and I were spending hours drafting this letter to the lawyer who will then bring it to the attention of the management company and to the Board. Who is the Board? The guy they want to throw out , his son, and the guy who is the investor of this property- two of the feudants!!! That was all quite draining. So that took lots of energy. Our next neighborhood meeting is at the end of the month. I have no idea when the issues will be addressed.
must close as i'm on the phone with cathy. love to all. mary c.
