I know within a week, Fred will have his birthday....I think it is the 13th right?// I could not find our birthday list...For all of you hopping onto the Geni Family Tree, if you fill in your profile your birthday will show up for the family to see..So fun to see Jo on there and Roseanne adding stuff. You must go read the description of Mom and Dad's wedding that Roseane gleaned (sp) from the newspaper...Anyway, love to you Fred and I am sure you will hear from some of the gang..Love and good night...

  2. Hi Peg! Luke is Luke Schumacher, not Luke Lennon. I changed his name on Geni but I am not certain I have spelled his name correctly.

Hi everyone! have loved getting information about everyone on the blog.

Happy to hear Linda and Ed have found their retirement dream home.Way to go!!!Also, Happy Birthday to you Linda. Which one is it? Anyway, wishes for many more. Glad to hear your mobility is getting better and better.

Good to hear news from the nieces. Keep it coming.

We are headed into a busy week-end. Tomorrow AM I will attend a workshop on letter writing (lobbying Congress) sponsored by Bread for the World. It advocates for ending world hunger.

Tomorrow night we have Nick and Izzy overnight as Phil and ?Deb have a Party to go to (Deb's Christmas party) and they want the night on the town. Saturday, I have to work at church for the Mardi Gras event they are having Sunday. Should try to bake some cakes for the bake sale or cake walk as well. On Sunday, Ed and I both work at the event: I will sell free trade coffee and Ed will work in the kitchen.

Next week-end, Christina is coming home from California for five days or so and we will have the family for dinner on Friday night. It's fish night for lent, so it is harder to rely on old favorites for the meal. Cathy suggested Tuna-Noodle casserole and the is probably what it will be. The Following week end Ed, Sue and I will fly to San Antonio, Texas for a week-end trip. Ed and I will leave on Thursday and Sue will fly in on Friday. We will go back home on Sunday afternoon. This flying for both Christina and us is compliments of Sue who has tickets and miles to use up.

I must get up to Curves shortly. After lunch, I will go to get a much needed hair cut. So I do need to hurry on. Love to all and keep the news coming on the blog. Love Mary C

  3. Happy Birthday, Linda
Would love to hear some details on how you are doing with the knee surgery recovery. So glad to hear you found your dream retirement home. Will it be hard to leave the Lennon memorial fish pond or will you try to rebuild it on the new property? Maybe you can post photos when your home is built.

Mary, do you ever stop to take a breath? I remember when your letters used to sound like you were on a fast track back in the 60's and 70's--now they sound as though you have not slowed down a bit. I think thats wonderful that you two are able to keep that fast pace going into your 70s.And what a blessing to be so close to the children and grandchildren.
Recalling speaking with Margaret and Patti at dad's funeral, when they shared alot about Joseph Patrick,(grandfather)and how he had such a strong desire for women to be well educated in a time when many were not, and how he maintained an extensive library and was so involved in community, I think of how proud he must be to see his grandchildren, like you, who are such vital, energetic, community involved, people living out his legacy. You go girl!!!!

And Peg, are you still involved with sweet Adelines or the choir you used to sing in?? Our Sarah called me so excited this week as she had auditioned and was accepted into the national group of Sweet Adelines.
Joseph e-mailed that the people around him, Czechs, Brits and americans abroad were all excited over Super Tuesday results as they are quite excited about Obama, over there. And they are anxious to see Bush go. (Sorry Peg, Im not trying to be political} Just reporting what Joseph told me.
Does anyone know why Brett is not able to recieve his packages? Perhaps logistics?? place to put them?? It sounds like they never get any down time. Makes one wonder about the numbers as Kathe referred to them not sending in any replacements for those downed.
    He is always in prayer.
Love to all and Happy Valentines Day next week. Love, B.

  4. Hello all, this is Brett

I am in the rear for a week getting new equipment, the first shower and haircut in 3 months and a nice mental break. I figured this would be the most efficient way to thank all of you for your support.
I find myself being pushed to my limit almost everyday. The last thing I want from anyone is sympathy, as I believe in what were doing in Afghanistan, unfortunately we are made sitting ducks because most of our assets are being wasted in Iraq. My platoon has been in about 100 firefights already and ive only seen my enemy twice, we play on their terms, they pick when and where we fight. I can tell you 90% of the REAL military (by REAL I mean the Infantry, the 10% of the military who actually kick in doors and do the real fighting, not officers or the rest of the military) feel betrayed by our government. I hope this can all get fixed. I can also say being a doctors son, I am a bit of a rarity in the Infantry, I had this vision growing up of grunts being these all-american kids. I quickly found this was not the case. The "all-american" kids go off to college and make a great life for THEMSELVES Most of my platoon were on drugs at one point, most come from broken homes, most are not christians, but this is who you have to thank for everything you have. I dont really know what my point is except that, These people have nothing and never will most likely, and they give their youth and their lives for you. So to be reckless about where their sent is quite a shame. I know its a no no to get political on here but I think ive earned the right to say that much.
God bless all of you and I look forward to seeing you this fall
    Love,
    Brett
