As you can tell from my absence, we have been very busy and it is only going to get worse as the Lenten Season begins shortly. I do want to say Happy Birthday to Julie although we sent her a card. These birthdays do seem to come & go awfully quickly!! As you know Peg, we made out trip to Joliet & it ended up being a one day trip this year as we had trouble making good connections. In fact is was so hard that I went alone this time as Beth could not make it. Aside from all the church work, which seems to grow everyday, we have been busy with all the family activities going on around here. Between baby sitting & attending some of these events, we have been in perpetual motion. But we believe that is what keeps us going. Our biggest event was our angel retreat this past weekend. Both Beth & I consecrated ourselves to our Guardian Angels which includes among other things, spending one hour in the presence of our Lord on each Thursday night between 9pm & midnight and Friday, between noon & 3pm, in the Passio Domini or the Passion of Christ. We made the consecration with about 30 others at the retreat. The retreat was from Thurs. through Sunday. I can't express enough what a blessing it was for both of us and our consecration was made on our Anniversary date!!! We offered special prayers for our boys serving in the military that their Guardian Angels will provide special protection for them. Albert & Becky are hosting the Super Bowl Sunday get-together for the family. Then the following Sunday, we are hosting the February birthdays. Becky is preparing all the home schoolers for the play on May 1&2, Pride & Predjudice. I know those are odd days but Peg, you should try & get a few of those Chicago people together and come on over as they would all really enjoy a professionally done play. Weather here is bitter cold after warmth & rain - now we are in the single digit temps. Ed, sorry to hear about your car but so glad you chased the idiot down. I would say it is lucky he is alive!! Are you two back home yet or are you still enjoying somewhat warmer weather down south? I gave a talk yesterday morning to a Catholic Men's Group and they were as enthused as I am with all the things going on in the Catholic Church with Benedict XVI!! Everyone I talk to know that something special is really happening in these chaotic & confused times we currently live in - he is bringing order & clarity to it all. I had better close as I have to finish my upcoming homily. Hope all is going well with everyone & may God's blessing be upon all of you. Love, Deacon Joe
