Thanksgiving Time

Hey Mary you were a good sport! Thank you for letting us enjoy your little mistake.
Just wanted to put a wee bit of something here about T Day here in Chi town.....Emily and Kathe are going to cook the bulk of a meal for Julie and self and Kathe and Emily......Pat and Mary Jo are hosting her family at their new abode....I get to whip up mom's dressing and we hear Tom and Roseanne are having their first T Day meal together...their first since they were married.. We all work until Wed evening so we appreciate Em doing her thing and even making pumpkin pie. Then we all have four days off to just enjoy each others company and I am hoping to hear on the blog what went on elsewhere....From the Brownlie household...(that would be me) may you all have a happy and very blessed Thanksgiving..we really are a lucky crew...I love you all. Stay in touch please. Maggie
P/s Our prayers for Beth on her post surgery healing...and for our soldiers of course.. XX

  1. Nice to hear what you are doing Peg. We are having T-Day here. Picked up to fresh killed turkeys from local farmer Sun (28# & 26# birds) Tammy taking other bird. Linda doing real well on new knee. Can go up/down stairs on one crutch. Doing rehab three days a week. She can't stand for extended time so I will be chef for T-Day. Will be making mince meat & pumpkin pie Wed. Doing other pre-dishes also. everyone here doing good. Going to "Grandfriends" Day at Ellyes school today. I caused a stir when I told them I'm coming as a Grandfather!! Can't stand this PC crap. We are looking forward to our upcoming Florida trip and fell confident Linda will be ready. Let me end by wishing all my siblings and their families a happy T-Day with family and friends. Love- Bro Ed

  2. Good to hear Linda is doing so well, Edward, and that she is responding so well to her therapy. And it is further good news that you are preparing the Thanksgiving meal, so you are to be aplauded for your willing spirit. I'm sure your great support and caring is contributing to helping Linda recouperate so well. Linda you do deserve to put your feet up and relax for at least one holiday.
And isnt it great that these neices, in Chicago, are preparing the meal for their families.
Laura and I are driving up to Ginny and Bob's on thanksgiving day, Sarah to New York to view the Macy's parade etc, with a friend and their four children. And Joseph will be in Brno, not really celebrating (our American holiday), but lashing into the new jar of peanut butter I sent him. (He can only buy very small jars of SKIPPY, for about 6.00 a jar, there. Europeans are just not peanut butter eaters. They have already had several inches of snow and Joe spoke to me a couple of weeks ago as he was trudging thru it,on an excursion into the hills around Brno. It was so cold he could hardly hold the phone to talk. Joe does not like cold.
May all of you have a wonderfully blessed thanksgiving, and may your entire holiday season be filled with much joy. Love, B.

  3. Hey Ed, how did you ever figure out that "Grandfriends" meant Grandfather??? I have never heard that term before - you East Coast people must be like the Left Coast people - speak a different language and live a different life. And then you hear people complain about using Latin in the Holy Mass!!!!! Glad to hear Linda recovering well from her surgery. Just a short note to let you know Beth had her stitches removed yesterday and all seems to be going well - still a lot of pain but offering it up for a variety of things. Albert/Becky & family are in Honduras and will be returning at midnight Friday. Tim/Sheila & family are going to her parents for Thanksgiving & then Sheila is driving the danceing girls to Chicago (Peg, they are staying at O'Hara hotel where the Irish Dance compitition is held). The rest of the families will be here for Thanksgiving. Sounds like all you in the Chicago area are going to enjoy Turkey Day. Nice day to relax and enjoy family. Bonnie, is Joseph experiencing an early winter or is that normal there this time of year? We are rainy today with cool temps but expected to get much colder as time goes on today & the next several days. Hope this finds everyone healthy and happy and may you all have a most Happy Thanksgiving!!! Deacon Joe

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to each of you. Sounds like everyone will be with family for the holiday-except of course our soldiers. But they are in our prayers and with us spiritually.

Been baking pumpkin pies since getting home from church and my walk this morning. We are having Nick overnight so he can go with us to church tomorrow morning. Chris and family will join us on Friday for a while so I will be making soup to serve on Friday.

There will be between 19 and 24 at Deb's tomorrow. We get together with Bob's family on Thanksgiving-ie Ed's brother.

Will close as there is much to continue doing. We just finished putting up our outside Christmas lights, ready to go in a couple weeks or so-doing it before it gets too cold.

    Love to all. Mary C

  5. Early Happy Thanksgiving to
everyone! I feel so thankful to have this family!! It has been
so good to hear from so many
of you. You all continue to be
    in my prayers, especially those
    of you recovering from surgeries.

I've got the turkey and sweet
potatoes ready, Peg's got her (Mom's) dressing made, Emily's making her pumpkin pie tonight, and Julie has insisted on(and is excited about) bringing in two bottles of Martini and Rossi champagne for us to drink tomorrow! That girl has now gone to champagne taste since moving to her upper,
    fancy apartment!! (ha!) Alicia
is spending the day with her dad
and her future in-laws. I will be
putting out a place setting for
my soldier, even though the seat
will be empty! I heard from him
today; he leaves to go out into
    the battlefield in the next
    couple days. If you're interested,
you can go onto google, look up
"ABC Nightline - The Other War"
and see the special that ABC had
on his platoon and the attack that
killed his buddies. Thank you for
    keeping him in your prayers.
Nightline stated that 1 out of 4
soldiers in his battalion have either been killed or injured.
Those are not exactly very good
odds! He needs you to send your guardian angels to protect him!

I wish you all a joyous, blessed, and safe holiday. God has indeed
    blessed our family.
    Love and prayers,
    Kathe

  6. Fred, in answer to your question, yes, it is normal to have cold weather and snow in Brno. Joe says last year the natives all complained for the lack of snow and the unseasonably warmer winter as the natives love their winter sports and hiking in the snow was missed last year. Joe got lucky as he hates cold weather, so this year he will have to bear the elements and learn to enjoy like the natives. (We should have sent him up to Marys over the years to toughen him up) After all, he's been in the south since he was 2. You would have thought living in St.Louis for two years would have helped a little!!!!
And Kathe, I was very interested in reading about Brett's platoon in that ABC broadcast, however with slow dial-up, I was not able to download it the video portion.I will keep trying. Havent talked to my friend Ann who has the CCD class that adopted Brett, so hope to see her soon to see what they are doing for their package.
Sarah arrived home from NY last evening after a wonderful trip and full of exciting adventures to relate about the Big Apple.
Linda, and Beth lets hear a report on how you both are doing. You are ever in prayers. Love, B
