Brett in Afghanistan
NPR Public Radio did a radio program on the memorial service for some of Brett's Unit that died in battle. Brett is the third on the right at the service at Camp Blessing
Very proud of our soldier heros and apprciate this being put on blog. All our soldiers are in our daily thoughts and prayers. A quick note. Linda had knee replaced yesterday and is doing well. She opted for spinal block and was very alert when they brought her to her room. Already has machine attached that exercises her knee automatically. She should be home Mon. if all things go well. Thanks Peg for keeping this site viable. Love to all-Bro Ed
Peg, I listen to npr every day and am sorry I missed hearing this article, but certainly glad you shared it with us. God bless Brett and all his comrades for the sharing of their lives so that we might be in a safer world. Edward, so glad you posted about Linda's surgery and that she came thru it well. I want to hear more about her recovery process, so please keep us posted. Thanks. B
Hi everyone, Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I had a great day. Pat and MJ took me out to eat, my daughters sent a beautiful fall bouquet to me at school, they're coming to take me out Sunday, and I'm heading out the door shortly to have a "sleep-over" with the other two birthday girls! The best present, however, is that the Army is giving Brett's platoon a two-week "respite" (sp.?) at Camp Blessing because of the trauma they have been going through - with the almost constant attacks and the loss last week of 3 of their own. Alot of you have been asking what Brett could use,and I appreciate that deeply. I want you to know I did not send that "alert" out so that Brett could get gifts. I think he is at the point that he just needs to know that people, especially family (whom he cares deeply for), are aware that he and his buddies are putting their lives on the line every minute of every day. I think occasional letters and cards are what he would appreciate the most. The ONLY thing he has asked repeatedly for are inspiring Catholic books, novels, magazines and articles. We (Alicia, Emily and I) have decided that if you send anything else, you might consider funny DVD's, inspirational Catholic music, or some silly things that the guys could play with -- anything to take them out of the world they're living in right now. Again, I am deeply grateful for anything you do. Brett is such a "heart" person that I am sure it will also touch him to hear from you. You can go to Google, type in "NPR Camp Blessing Memorial Service" and read the article that accompanies the picture Peg put on the blog. Everything else is just great. Alicia did tell me that she has set aside rooms at the Holiday Inn and Suites, which will run around $90.00. There's plenty of time to check all that out later. Keep adding to the blog. God bless all of you!!! Love and prayers, Kathe
