Just a brief note to let you know Beth & I will not be able to make the Oct. reunion. I forgot to mark on my calendar the Ordination of Permanant Deacons on October 6th. I have been the mentor for a candidate who will be ordained on that date and he asked me to vest him on that date. Then I have responsibility for the one man play, "The Confessions of St. Augustine" at our parish on the evening of Oct. 7th. But we are looking forward to Ed & Mary's visit (and anyone else who wants to come our way - only 4-hours from Peg's place). We had a very hot, humid day today. Several of the kids and their families are vacationing up north where weather and water is much better than here. Beth is scheduled for hammer-toe surgery on Friday at noon. Pray that all goes well as she has sinus infection and has to see doctor tomorrow to get approval to go forward with the surgery. Mary, just hearing news about one of your bridges collapsing in Twin Cities - that does not sound good. Thanks everyone for keeping up the blog as always good to hear latest news. Love, Deacon Joe
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone. We are all accounted for here in the Mnpls. area. Just wanted to let you know as you are probably hearing about the Bridge collapse that happened here at 6:05 PM tonight at the height of the rush hour. Pray for all the families of victims tonight. The numbers of victims are not known yet. All our family is accounted for; Matt and Lyz are accounted for; and Patty's family is ok. Love, Maryfive.
ReplyDeleteMary, so good and reassuring to know that all of you are well after the bridge collapse. That was my first thought when I saw it on the news and read the online reports. Tom called awhile ago to say that the graduation was this afternoon, that he and Julie would be driving to Atlanta around 5:00 and were also bringing some other guests from the graduation, to the airport, before he drops Julie off here, so depending on the time, maybe Julie can get on here later tonight and give you all a full report of the festivities. Mary thanks for all the updates on your activities. I always enjoy all the family news. Thanks Peg. Love, Bonnie
ReplyDeleteJulie is back and the sharks didnt get her. The graduation ceremoney was wonderful, it was indoors, so not in the horrible Ga. heat!! Grandma Dee, Jerry and several of Kevin's friends, as well as girlfriend, Erin were all in attendance. Afterwards, they all went to Golden Coral for a meal and good ole Iowa Chocolate cake that Julie had slaved over a hot stove at the beach to make especially for Kevin. Kevin looked magnificent in his green dress uniform and will appear in the Clinton Herald soon with his parents and grandma. Julie has had fish all week and finally a steak on the last night, weds. She got thrown overboard in the ocean, met face to face with a giant crab, whom Jan's little dog, Sandy tried to intimidate and the crab chased them all down the beach.( Can this be one of those Lennon tall tales?}
ReplyDeleteJulie says NO~! it really was just like that. She reports she found out where they get the salt, for the Margareta glasses. From the beach water. She got a mouthful when Tom and Jan threw her overboard. Shes already planning for a sister's week at the beach next year,depending on if the house sells or not. Julie enjoyed a massage and the hot tub.Its eleven, so the Iowan here is ready to call it a day. reporting for the youngest sister, Bonnie
It is so nice to read everyone's stories and catch up with what's going on with all of you. And I, too, am very grateful for the safety of our MN families.
ReplyDeleteI returned yesterday from Elizabeth's home in Canonsburg PA and had a wonderful time with the grandbabies---healing my heart, so to speak. My only regret is that my hubby, Tom, couldn't be with me for the visit. Instead, he stayed in Chicago and worked in a 118 degree warehouse counting inventory. (The heating/air conditioning company he now works for doesn't have any air conditioning installed for their employees.)
I have not heard directly from Christian so I don't know what kind of Army training/classes he is in right now. As soon as I hear from him, I will update everyone via the blog. I can't say I am happy that he re-enlisted, but then he is 30 years old and he made his decision so I smile and pray hard. Please add him to your prayers as you pray for his cousins and all of our military personnel.
I am on medical leave and am slowly recovering my health. I went from being the poster child for "healthy diabetes" to my whole body shot to heck. My employment situation has finally taken its toll. (Four years at this stressful company makes me one of the oldest employees since we have a significant turnover rate---90% of our managers and 40% of our regular employees leave each year.) I will be looking for another company as soon as I have some energy again...and better blood sugars, blood pressure, and have cured the anemia. (That doesn't speak to my mental state!!) At any rate, I am grateful for the opportunity to take time off to recover now.
No other news for now.
And Fred, I took I-70 from Pittsburgh to Chicago so didn't go past your place as I returned. Otherwise I would have stopped for lunch! Thank you for your offer, though. :) Lots of love to you all, Roseanne
I will be returning home tomorrow, Monday, after a nice visit with family. Tom got me an assist to deliver me to the plane so he wont have to worry so much about me, not hearing the flight calls. Im tired of fish and chicken and ready for a good Iowa beefsteak!!!!!!Bonnie and I pigged out last night at her choir potluck. Peg, looking forward to seeing you on the fri the17th. Ill call MaryJo when I get back on Monday. I will need some catch-up sleep time as these southerns are keeping me up wayyyyyyyy past my bedtime. Love, Julie
