Roseanne and Tom and Kathe and I are heading out to see a movie tonight. We hoped Mary Jo and Pat could come but, MJ is at a wedding in Clinton. Pat is tired from moving.... Tom called yesterday from Florida to say Julie is now an official beach bum....Julie sounded happy on her well deserved holiday and Tom said he would get onboard here and update what they are doing this week. Next week is Kevin's grad from Officer School. We pray Brett is safe and hope to see him soon....Fred sent a nice piece that reminded all of us to stop at 8 pm every night and pray for peace and our loved ones so we thought we would share that and make it a BIG thought at least from our family. Roseanne explained that Christian signed up with the Army as he felt his career since back was not going as planned and R said he seemed okay with this decision so we hope he is happy also.
We hear that Tom and Mike are coming in October to join Jo Bob Mary Ed Fred (I think???) Beth? so we will notice Ed and Linda's absence but understand that is his crazy time of year... so plan on some good food and a wee bit of a reunion...
Kathe went with her daughters to pick Alicia's wedding dress today and I guess all is settled and it sounds gorgeous.
We are simply loving our Chicago weather and I plan to pull off the convertible top tonight and head out shortly. Just checked my stocks...OUCH!!! Oh almost forgot to mention that Joanne is driving Kara and Katie and Jennie? I think up here next weekend. I am looking forward to that also..

Hello to all of you. First thing I do when I get home from lake is check the blog for news of the family. Thanks Peg for making the effort to keep this going edven when there is little response=for one reason or another.
ReplyDeleteTalked to Jo last evening. She told me she had never received any mail from me which means that none of you did when I tried to over ride the blog after writing for an hour and not being able to publish!! Then, the next day, I wrote again, using my e-mail and I thought I could save a draft and pull it up again to continue.NO! Then I tried to send what I had and did not have Fred's e-mail address on the list, so the letter still sits in my e-mail box and shows up everytime I open the screen-even though I have since put in Fred's address, I cannot fix the the e-mail to get it to run. Talk about FRUSTRATION ! I had hoped that at least the rest of you had gotten the message, but now I know better.
Went to the lake with Sue and Matt on Friday morning. Ed had to stay home and work on the presentation that he and his boss Bob are to give in Madison, Wednesday AM, Aug. 1. Bob is to fly into Mnpls this evening about 7:00PM and we hope he makes it because of Northwest Airlines cancelling flights at the last minute-at the end of the month. Pilots are short and have in all their hours by then.
Phil and Deb began their vacation by coming to the lake on Friday, so Matt and Nick and Izzy had time together. Then on Sunday morning they left for the Dells for a couple nights and then on to Chicago where they will take the kids to the museums, etc. Also Nick wants to see where he was born!
Sue had a flood in her rig on Friday-NOT a good way to begin relax time! She was able to rent a rug cleaning extractor from Jim"s Bait store(Unlikely place!) and it seemed to clean up pretty good. The kind of excitement no one wants on vacation.
Guy and Cathy were up also. Guy took the boys tubing-pulling them behind the pontoon. Not and exciting ride, but good for beginners. Guy is also the official fire builder for a campfire and Cathy provides S"Mores.
We are excited about the Chicago Sibling Get Together in October. I did get a note off to Fred about our trip to his place. As of now, we plan to drive to his place on Monday morning, October 8. We will leave here either Thursday or Friday morning, October 4 or 5, and come into Chicago.
So we all need to talk about where we might possibly stay? Julie needs a place, Jo and Bob will likely be at Pegs; Mike and Tom are at Pat's; So that leaves Ed and I, and maybe Fred and Beth. If we need motels, where can we get a place near the action and at a reasonable price. Please let us know. We will likely need some place when we return from Fred's too as I doubt we will make that whole drive straight back fom Mi to home.
I was surprised to hear Brett is getting to have a two week vacation in August-during Bush's surge.. However, I think good for him. Or are they making up to him for that horrifying mistake they made when they told him his Dad had died? Eager to hear from Julie about her trip and Kevin's graduation. Cannot believe that Christian has re-upped!! Anyway......
Bonnie, I could never get Joe's web-site. I did try. Good for you doing the musical! It is great for the soul to do young things.
Rose, I thought Ellizabeth lived in Texas? When did they go to Pittsburg? What was wrong with Heleman??
Well, if my young sisters want to know the truth, neither Ed nor I know who you were talking about seeing at the Summer Festival. We have never even heard his name. At least Bonnie knew! I don't know if that is good or bad. Tells you how busy we are I guess. Sounds like you girls have a nice thing going.

So happy to hear that Pat and MJ are moved in their new home. A BIG job done-worth all the effort. I was sure feeling for you as you were in the midst of it. Glad also for Pat that he is working out of Oswego full time (asd of late fall). That will have to be good.
