Our soldier returns home to Chicago this afternoon at 12:45!! We are heading to the airport
shortly to anxiously await his arrival. He is coming home a week early for his Christmas
leave because the Army invited him to accompany Sal Giunta (the Medal of Honor recipient),
on a public appearance tour of Chicago this week. Sal is being honored during the Bears game
tomorrow, so Brett will be able to sit in the sky box with him. Brett bought Steve, Emily, Norb,
Alicia and me tickets (not for the sky box) to the game so we can be there. Brett gets to
accompany Sal, via police escort, to different events through the week! He is so thrilled to be
home...and we feel so blessed to have him home safe and sound!!!!
He will be home until January 3, when he goes back to Italy. Then he will return to Chicago on February 2 - done at last!!!
We will keep you posted with news and pictures as the holiday events unfold.
thanks peg, for the update all all the Brett happenings. Between you and Alicia I think you two could become roving reporters for Access Holliwood, only call it Access Lennon !!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures and it looks like they all got to meet and enjoy being with Salvadore, war hero, and his family. Wonderful! Brett sure looks good. Does anyone know how Ed Fleege is doing? And any news on Nancy's recovery??
Finally got my cards finished today, so hopefully you will all get them before Christmas, unless I dont have your correct address. Wishing whomever reads this a very peacefilled Christmas. Bonnie
Real quick as it is late: Ed went to doctor today and is now a free man no longer tethered by a catherer. He get tired, complains only occasionally about pain from the surgery. So life appears to be returning slowly to normal- and we can focus on the upcoming Christmas celebration. We have done very little up to this point The nurse-me-found the uncertainty from day to day during the past week, along with the extra duties added to my life to be most stressful. The bit snowstorm did little to help as that added some duty time shoveling!!! Anyway, things look up right now.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this Mary! Love to you all. Peg
