Not stuffing....Kathe and I went to volunteer at a Homeless Served Restaurant and she ended up on Chicago News! How fun. We only served about 10 people and then were sent on our way. The place was hoping for 300. We should have stayed till the end to get some of the leftover birds. Roseanne and her hubby had a meal at her home. Pat and MJ went up to Madison to be with their kids. Julie was in Clinton with Bev for a home cooked meal. Soo we need to hear from some of our other siblings.
I spent Thur eve at Kathes home where we caught up with Alicia and Norb; Friday after being a guest in Kathe's home, she fixed me her GIANT bath and I took a long bubble bath while she did her thing. We basically goofed off a lot and did NOTHING. Talk about a stress free few days '
Tonight I will go to Alicia's house where she and her mother are making Spritz cookies as they start their tradition of annual baking together. I plan to actually EAT some of them when I arrive there later on. ha ha
Well, I am heading over to facebook to see if I can humiliate myself again (kind of inside joke on what not to do while drinking red wine.) Mary, I cannot wait to hear from you about your day too.
Hello to everyone. Just to update all of you on our Thanksgiving. We went to Phil's place. Patty and Chris and Matt stayed at our house the night before. They got in late because they had to pick Becki up at Eau Clair, WI and then deliver her to her sister's place here in the Cities before landing at our place. We had a nice visit with them. The girls came to Phil's place for dinner and Lyz's boyfriend stopped by for a couple hours in the afternoon. Many of us played games and visited all afternoon:Apples to Apples for the general player; Paul and the nephews were playing Risk-a prolonged game. We ate about 6:00PM and then Chris and family went home to Duluth.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest surprise of all was when Theresa, Ed's sister came this year. We were very pleased and it seems she had a good time
Bob's sons Rick and Jason and families were also there (as were Bob and Sue , of course. Rick's two little boys are growing and Theresa, his wife, is expecting a baby in April.
Jason and Christina's baby, Parker, is growing. He is a little butterball-8 months now. He wears glasses so the kids thinks he looks like Elton Johns, the singer. He apparently has some issues but while Christina alluded to the fact, she did not go into details Apparently he has very weak muscles in his arms and so may never crawl. Time will tell. I is good to keep that little family in your prayers as exceptional problems certainly creates stresses above and beyond for a family.
We certainly had a nice day together-everyone bringing food to share, and helping Deb get through the hostessing. We were all aware that we had much to be grateful for.
Cathy and Guy are headed to Denver area tomorrow for about a 5 day R&R vacation. Guy will work the first day . He has family in the area-his step-mother, and a brother I believe. On Thursday, if the weather holds up, Ed and I will drive to Duluth for a luncheon the Ladies from our old parish, St. Anthonys's, (which closed in the 1980's), hold every December and May. We get to see many of the people from the parish. Then we will visit with Betty, Syl, maybe Larry, a friend from St. Ben's, and with an overnight with Patty and Chris. If we have a blizzard, we will not go.
Was not in the mood for Christmas. But yesterday morning, walked into church. The Advent colors and Advent wreath gave me an instant boost. When you get to be 74 years old, you realize how important it is to get a boost like that. So while you are young, do not be afraid to invest in those rituals; it's a blessing when you grow old
Thanks Kathy for your message on the blog. So good to hear from you. Yes, we pray for our three nephews everyday. It does not seem like the war machine can be stopped. We will be listening tomorrow night to Obama. I was proud of my sisters going to the restaurant and serving dinner to the needy. How many people were there? Such events are good for the soul: so seldom are we ever face to face with those who are needy. Like Dives, we are not mean and cruel: we just never have the reality of it on our radar screen!
Right now Ed is on his 5th of six therapy sessions on his back. It is getting better. He of course needs more exercising and stretching.
I will move on for today. It is great hearing of all your activities.
Love, Mary C
