The Lonely Lennon Blog

I definitely am having way too much fun on Facebook now. Wanted to pitch a comment toward the upcoming Birthday Boys Mike on Nov 11 and Patrick on Nov 15. Happy Birthday Bros! I wish both of you would hop aboard the Facebook Train but here it is!!

We gals had a great Bday weekend. LOved all the greetings and such that I got from ya'all.
Back at work now three half days a week. My little helper Dr. Christine is helping me out about every three to four days so I can "protect" my little bad disc.

Alicia and Norb have an adorable house that is now about 8 blocks away from my clinic.
This weekend I have to do a "show" but Mary Jo is having some of the girls over for some kind of party....We have not heard anything from Phil who now lives in the Northern suburbs part time as his little family is still in Minneapolis.

We are hoping to celebrate next weekend with Patrick for his Birthday. K and I plan to try to get together at least for a while to see him and give him a kiss.

Mary, I just found your adorable little birthday cakes and messages on the Geni Family site and thank you .... I hope I have thanked everyone else on the other site.

Kathe and I just booked three nights in downtown Chicago at the Palmer House for Jan 1-3. We are looking forward to bringing in the New Year in true midwestern COLD but luxurious style.

My basement remains dry, my new front desk CA is good, I am back at adjusting, and thank you God, there is another day after the storms...............Let me know how all of you are and what is up for your T Giving Day??????????

  3. Hello to every one from Minnesota. Finally, I'm taking time to do this. I just completed a 6 1/2 hour task of getting a blurb ready for the church bulletin, entitled Taking the Gospel to the World. I have had the assignment of November and as bad luck would have it, I had a month with 5 Sundays. I am so glad to have finished this stint. Those of u s on the Social Justice Commission take turns doing a month at a time. Whew!!!

Sue was down to Florida near Orlando for work this past week. She enjoyed 80 degree weather. But we cannot complain: we have enjoyed 50's and 60's with sunshine most of this past two weeks. But it is supposed to change next week-in time for Thanksgiving. We had a lousy October, though even then, we did need the rain we got. Nothing like Atlanta got however.

Phil got home from about 10 days in Schaumborg last night; he will be here all next week. Last night, Sue and Ed and I took Nick and Izzy to Cub to pick up groceries for two families who will get their Thanksgiving baskets delivered on Sunday. Then we all ate at Wendy's. Wendy's is not a healthy place for me-butI did enjoy a milk shake which is absolutely a BAD CHOICE for a diabetic. But it surely was good!

Ed is still having difficulties wiith his back in spite of two sessions with the physical therapist. We will see his doctor on Monday morning-actually for his diabetic check-up, but the doctor can reassess the back situation.

We will have Thanksgiving at Debbie's place. Their house is the most conducive for so many people. Our entire family will be there except for Christina who is in California. She and Dorian will go to his folks in Los Angeles. Bob Fleege and Sue, his two sons and families will join us. (I do not think his daughter will be here with her family. She is in Idaho. That makes 15 of us and six adults and 3 children with Bob's family. Deb's Dad and his girl friend may also join us. So a crowd. We all bring food and we usually have a day of visiting, fun and games. We are not a politics and religion bunch!

Cathy is seeing Ed and I once a month for a massage!Wow! What a gift!! She takes her board tests the Monday after Christmas. Pray for her that she passes them. She is studying hard. Guy is doing a lot of traveling with his job. Lately, it has been to Denver. In early December, he has to be out there a week, So Cathy is closing down day care and going to spend a week together out there. Good for them.

Paul continues to plug away at work and at tasks for his volunteer work. We do not hear much from Patty and Chris and family. The two girls are at school-Liz a senior at the main UM; Becky is at Eau Clair, UW. Matt is in 5th grade, as is Nick. Izzy is in 2nd this year.

We spend a lot of time running to doctor appointments and Therapists; Ed has major dental work coming up. I am kept busy at church-yesterday it was the funeral choir. The foremer archbishop presided. The lady had been his secretary. She died of breast cancer at the young age of 58! In between, I am trying to get my book club selections read. Right now I am reading A Wedding in December by Anita Schreve. We read The Glass Castle by Jeanette --------and The year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion the latter a memoire of her grieving process after the death of her husband. Different, but interesting. The Glass Castle was startling in the family dysfunction-a good read for any Lennon who thought we came from a dysfunctional family. We were MILD!!!! The author wrote with much comedy, but oh my the hardship and deprivation. WOW!

Now that I am done with the Bulletin task, I will probably begin tutoring at the school in my friend's classroom at least once a week.

Will close until next time. Not many readers on the blog. But I am not ready to go to Facebook. My age I guess. I am skeptical. For now, Love to all. Thanks to Peg for keeping this up. Without it, I would not have any idea about what is happening in Chitown and all my relatives! Also, Bonnie, you are faithful. Thanks. Love, Mary C.

PS This better Take when I submit it!!!!!
