Happy Birthday Ed

Hi Ed...Mr. Florida
We know you have a bday coming up so keep us posted on where you are right now?? what will you do ?? How are you doing anyway?
Mary Poppins was wonderful...MJ, her cousin, her sister, Julie, Bev and I all attended Sat pm. Pat joined us for dinner in Naperville. Mucho funno. Sunday Bev and Julie and I walked for almost an hour and a half in a forest preserve..not bad for 50 60 and70 year old.
Called Joanna quickly and she wants to come when the Streichers have the memorial service. I am still waiting for that date as well .
I am putting many peonies in my home from my bushes on the deck. They are so beautiful and remind me of mom's peonies on the farm.
Kathe is still in Italy. We heard she is having a ball. She found an Italian bakery she loves. Alicia and Em have had some word from that region but I have not talked with her. She is due back tuesday and I cannot wait to talk to her.
Our hugs and kisses and best wishes Ed !!
Fred and Beth, the package is going out tomorrow. Love for now Sissy p

  1. Thanks Peg for your B'Day wishes. We are at RI home till Fall then head to Florida. Will return for Holidays and then south again. Took RI house off market as nothing above $500 thousand is moving. Will wait till next spring and try again.
Family is coming for ribs on Sat. to celebrate my 64th and Fathers Day. Linda making deep chocolate cake and whip cream for dessert. Looking forward to it.
Put boat in water last week and will be working on it this week. Mostly playing card games, gardening, boating and golf. This retirement is really tough!!
Invite still out for anyone wishing to visit either location but won't hold my breath.
Do hope this finds all my sibs and families well and happy.
    Bro Ed

  2. Hi Everyoone. First a Happy Birthday to Ed on the 19th.!!! May your day be full and may God bestow many blessings each day of your new year!
Also, love to all you fathers out there. This morning at Mass, Father talked about the "Our Father" and told the story of one of his hospital calls when he was a newly ordained priest. He went to a comatose lady's bedside and started to talk to her. The family was there, and the son stepped forward, and said, 'Oh Father, she is unable to understand you, as she has been comatose for a week now." Father said he continued to talk, and then asked the family to join him in praying the "Our Father". they started the prayer....and the woman chimed in. (Those were her last words; she died a week later.)

It reminded me of Dad when he was no longer speaking those last days. We would gather around his bed and pray the Our Father, and he would visibly respond-not in words- but become more alert. Those of you who were with us during those days will certainly remember. So I think of Dad too this week-end.

Ed had his first procedure yesterday morning. It was an ETT-cardioversion. They looked at his heart through a camera which he had swallowed. He had no blood clots, so they proceeded to shock his heart with one zap. It was successful in bringing him back to a normal rate of heartbeat. The doctor said the heart looked good-whatever that really means-but that was good news. There is no certainty as to how long this zap will be effective-a long time or he could slip back into it. When Ed had his stress test May 20, there was no sign of fribulation problems; the first time we ever heard he had such a problem was when we saw the heart doctor on June 9 and it was picked up in an EKG he ran on him.

Next procedure will be June 25: he will have an angiogram that morning.

Necessity is the mother of pushing one to learn new things. I had to drive Ed home from the hospital, so I have learned how to get to downtown St. Paul to the hospital. So that is a step up for me as concerns my driving skills in the big city!!!

We are headed for the lake tomorrow morning for the Father's Day week-end. Sue has planned a pow-wow for Saturday afternoon where we will discuss our will and our Living wills with the kids so all hear what our wishes are. We have needed to do it, but you know how it is: one never takes the time.

We will likely come home eith Sunday night or be hoome by noon on Monday. We will be homoe then until we go up for the 4th of July week-end.

Hope Kathy shares her trip with us on the blog. How is Bret? and all the other soldiers in our family?Tom, how was the Alaskan tour?

How are each of you. Nice to hear from Ed on the blog and to know what is going on in he and Linda's lives.

Will close, and hope this posts. Love, Mary C
