  1. I'm still reading the blog and find your and Mary's lives very interesting! I don't know if I've ever mentioned that this blog has quite a fan base in Oklahoma so keep up the good work!

On to business, Katie has left for India, she's been there almost a week and is loving it! I know she really appreciated the donations she received from the family. She's still a little shy of the goal so every bit helped.

She has a great blog going about her trip. I think most of you have my e-mail at work, if you are interested I'll send you the link. Katie's a great writer so her blog makes her trip come alive. Plus, there are some awesome pictures on it of my dad getting his birthday pedicure!

Please keep Katie in your prayers. In the past six days she's experience a huge culture shock and met some children at the orphanage that she loves already. It's a big job she's doing, I think she needs all the prayer she can get.

Everything else is going well, except the constant wind. You don't realize until you live somewhere where the wind goes on and on and on, how much it can effect you. Sometimes just the thought of walking out the door and having to brace myself is overwhelming. I wonder how the settlers handled it back when there weren't any trees around at all for the little break they offer.

It's late and its been a busy week so I'm off to bed.

    Love to all,
    Jenny (Smith)

  2. Thank you Peg for your B'Day greeting. Just let Mary know we will not be attending her August celebration. Logistics too cumbersome. Linda and I are flying to Florida Mon. night to close on our new home in Ocala. We inspect it Tues. and they have two days to fix anything we find before we close on Fri. This weekend Shaun & Steve are helping me load a large POD with furniture, etc. for Florida home. It will be delivered 4th of July week. We are flying down to unload it and get house ready for our Dec. thru Feb. visit. We will allow visits from those who wish to " Come out of the Cold". If we get as many as visited us here, it should not be crowded!! Hope all is well with everyone. Love- Bro Ed

  3. Hi all,

Well Kathe and I are finally on summer break! Year after year it is still a great feeling to have another school year come to a close and to enjoy a long summer break. I had a very good year and really enjoy my job in Illinois although I am the oldest in the building!

Mary, what a week you had last week. Will pray for a successful surgery next week. Hope it goes well. Thanks for your updates

Jenny, please send me your email address as I would like to read about Katie's trip to India. Will pray for her endeavors and a safe return. She will come back with a new appreciation of home. So glad to hear that you enjoy the blog and thanks for updating us on your life in Oklahoma. Wish more family would do the same as this blog is a great way to update family.

Bonnie, haven't heard from you lately. Please write with an update on your retirement.

Marianne and I just returned from a very quick trip to Minneapolis for a graduation party. we drove through the drenching rain that hit the Wisc. Dells. Good thing we were ahead of the flooding. Marianne and Ryan as just 30 miles south of there.

Karen and Luke are doing well. She is getting ready to start nursing school in Aug.

Pat and I have enjoyed our first year in Illinois. It has been fun to meet with Kathe and Peg and then be home in the evening. Julie has been in frequently so that his been nice.

Ed, Happy Birthday and have a good trip to Florida. congratulations on your new retirement home. Hope we can get down to visit sometime. Thanks for the invite!

Hope to see everyone at the wedding in October.

  9. It was so nice to read all the comments this morning. The weather in Illinois is beautiful this morning and is forcast to continue all week. Peg, Kathe, and I were at an Emmy Lou Harris concert on Saturday night and it was a wonderful night to sit outside and enjoy the music at a beautiful arboretum setting!

Pat and I were both saddened to hear of the untimely death of Tim Russert. As his cardinal said, "He was what it means to be a good Catholic." Also, the flooding in Iowa is so serious. Please keep those people from your home state in your prayers.

Mary, we are praying for a successful surgery.

Jenny, please send me your email address as I would like your address. Peg ssad it is not a good idea to publish addresses on the blog so it you could have your mom email your email, I would appreciate it.

    Have a good week!

    Pat and Mary Jo

  10. Peg, we need a new heading/original post, Its nearly time to say Happy Summer officially.
I have not read anywhere, the date of Mary's surgery. Whenever it is, I pray that all gos well. And tell Roseanne to get on and send an official birth announcement for Elizabeths new boy, name and statistics.
I came home from church yesterday, and was shocked to see a huge pile of limbs, branches and debri lining the complete frontal curb of my property. At first I just stopped in my tracks and wondered what had happened. Then it came to me that my neighbor, John, must have been busy with his chain saw. Upon driving up my driveway, I noticed a new big patch of sunlight. It was the old dead dogwood tree that I had noticed this spring was completely devoid of leaves or any greenery.
One day while chatting in my back yard, I had mentioned that if he had his chain saw out some time and was interested, to feel free to chop it down. So, in just little more than an hour, he and family had chopped, hauled, and delivered to the curb my dogwood, for pickup on monday morn by the city. What a surprise. I have the best neighbors in the whole world!
They did all this and still made it to 12:30 mass. God bless them. When ever I offer to pay them for their kind gestures, they always say, "Thats what neighbors are for". I am blessed.
It sounds like Harold S.is doing a bit better. Thanks Peg, for putting that website with his progress up there.
The price of gas here is like everwhere, 4.00 a gallon and rising, so Im sticking close to home this year. Cant afford to travel.
My sister lost her husband a couple of weeks ago and my best friend in Iowa, lost her mom about a week earlier, so lots of grieving kind of letters to write lately. It does serve to remind us all of how dear life is and how important it is to enjoy and love those closest to our heart.
Belated Happy Fathers Day to all the men in the family, and God Bless all of you. B.

  11. Hello, All. In about an hour and a half, Ed will drive me to the hospital for my surgery. It is scheduled for 2:00 or after, depending if they are on time. I trust it will go well. Father gave me the Sacrament of the Sick on Sunday after Mass, so that was comforting. I'll likely be sore for a few days after, but it will unfold as it unfolds.

Ed, when is your birthday? The 19th I think. Anyway you are in my prayers and I wish you a great day. Congratulations to Fred on his 25th anniversary to the Deaconate. How the years fly.

Mike has been playing Paul Bunyon cleaning up tree branches from the big tree in his back yard that went down when a tornado passed but a block and a half away from his house.

Deb went in for a CAT Scan on her lungs this morning. Pray there is nothing serious or untreatable found.

The news on the blog has picked up! Great!!!

    Love, Mary C
