I will see if I can post a photo or two. I am not sure who is bombarding our blog...some salespeople trying to scare you into buying Anti virus stuff. This is why we do not use phone numbers addresses and emails on this blog.
All is well. Little rain mixed with snow and my flannel sheets await me. Life is good God is good and hope you are all going to your LENTEN activities. and praying for my sorry ass.
Love and good night. maggieb

ReplyDeleteHAPPY EASTER to all! I'm heading
ReplyDeleteup to Emily and Alicia's today to
help them pack, as Emily will be moving in with a new roommate (a girl she works with from
McGraw-Hill who also has cats!), and Alicia will be moving in with me until the wedding. Then I'm staying over at Peggy's, as Peg, Emily, my friend from school, and I are going out for a fancy Easter brunch after Mass on Sunday.
Alicia and Norb are going to be
with her dad.
I talked with Brett about a week
ago and asked him what he wanted
me to send him for Easter, and he
asked that I just request many
prayers from our family and friends for him and his soldiers, as the
Taliban get ready for their spring
offensive. He was very proud to
tell me he has been promoted to
sergeant (sp.? - I never knew how
to spell that word - I guess I
better learn now!!). Please keep
them all in your prayers this
Easter and please keep emails going to him, as he has occasion to check them and it does mean so much for him to know you are still thinking of him.
Peg and I made our final plans
for the big wing-ding in Minnesota.
We are soooooo excited about being
able to see all of you at such a
joyous occasion!
God bless all of you and may His
resurrection bring all of us a
new year filled with healing and hope.
Love and prayers,
Kathe
Pat and I would like to wish everyone a happy and blessed Easter season. We are spending the day in Rockford with Karen and Luke. Marianne and Ryan have joined us also. Last evening we all went to Happy Joes and then spent the evening playing Mexican Dominoes.
ReplyDeleteWe went to Mass this morning at Karen and Luke's church here in Rockford and are now waiting for the ham, cheesy potatoes, and broccli casserole to cook followed by homemade strawberry shortckake. As you can tell, we are all hungry!
We will travel back to Oswego this evening, and I am looking forward to having the week off from school. Kathe and I hope to get together to walk as she has the week off also.
Talked to Julie yesterday and she is spending the day with Brian and they are going to Jerry's for dinner. she will be in next weekend as we have tickets to see Jersey Boys in downtown Chicago. she had Chelsea last weekend and said what a nice weekend they had together.
May you all enjoy your Easter holiday with your families and give thannks to God for the many blessings He has given us.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in August.
Love, Mary Jo and Pat
Hi Everyone. Ed and I wish you all the blessings of this holy season. We had the beautiful rituals of the triduum, and it kept us busy. We had a gray Easter Day, but all five children were home for Easter dinner at Sue's place; she and I cooked for the meal. Patty, Becky and Matt stayed in Duluth to celebrate with her family; Elizabeth was en-route home after a week in Sacramento, California where she spent her spring break working for Habitat for Humanity; Christina was in California, of course; and Debbie was home with the flue. So we were only 11 strong. but we had a very enjoyable afternoon together, visiting. The five kids also had a conflab together on our August party.
ReplyDeleteOn Easter Monday, I spent most of the day reading my book for Book Club. I had only managed to get 80 pages of the 227 pages read in the previous two weeks!!!So Monday was a Read-a-thon. Now I am supposed to work on a list of books for our book club to read next year. If any of you have read any spectacular books in the last year, be sure you mention it on the blog so I can consider it on my list.
I have joined the 'funeral choir" at church. That means that I sing in the choir when we have a funeral at church. See that is the advantage of being retired-and the duty! Remember Jo how we used to sing funerals at St. John's when we were kids?? I haven't sang in a choir since high school and college. In this choir, I do not have to spend much time practicing.
The sun is out today. the temperature is decent and the snow (from Saturday) has melted. Feels Eastery and like spring. The forecast is for snow tonight and tomorrow. Then next week, the 50's.
Not too much more to say for now. Just want you all to know that you are in my mind and in my heart. Thanks, Kathy and Mary Jo for letting us know what you were up to for Easter-and Peg, too. We do pray for our soldiers every night-for their safety. When I finish this, I hope to get an e-mail off to Bret
.
Oh before I finish, I must mention how Phil Horan, Probably our 3rd cousin on Dad's side, contacted several of us for our faimly tree information. It was fun to hear from him. Jo, Mike and I knew his two older sisters, Martha Jean and Margaret Ann when we were kids and lived on McPherson St. and Highland Avenue in Ottumwa. He told me his family moved to the farm in south Ottumwa in 1943 and of course, we moved to Savanna in 1944. I would see his father, Phil Horan on the streets of Ottumwa every now and then when visiting the aunts or while I was in college in Ottumwa. He was a county commissioner or something of that sort for Wapello County-or as his son said, "He was a politician". (See, that political stuff is in our genes!) He was a very friendly guy, and very warm. I have good memories of him and of his wife, Margaret. He sent a family tree of his family and there were so many familiar names of which I have heard, but I have never met the people. One of the last times I saw Phil and Margaret Horan was after Grandma Lennon's frneral. Ed and I went out to see them at their farm. They shared with us how they were taking Communion to John and Helen Crimmins, our cousins on Mom's side of the family as they were shut-ins. Anyway, it was a walk through memory lane to talk to the young Phil Horan and recall all those memories of family.
Must close. Love, Mary C
Mary, Good to hear your family news. I am now waiting for Kathe to call so that we can walk at the mall. I just looked out the window and it is snowing again! The week is flying by. Did get back to Clinton on Tues for dentist, hair, lunch with friends, etc.etc. Didn't connect with Julie but she will be in this weekend. My sister, cousin from Des Moines, her daughter, and Marianne will be staying for the weekkend and we are all, including Julie, Bev, Kathe, and Peg, going to a matinee performance of Jersey Boys followed by dinner. It should be a whole lot of fun. Mary, I did want to recommend a book for your list. Have you read Three Cups of Tea? It is a true story of Greg Mortensen, a mountain climber from the U.S., who because of the generousity of an Afghan villager, pledged to return to build a school for girls in his community. He then dedicated his life to building over 350 schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan over the last 15 years. It is a remarkable story of how peace and good will builds relationships. If your group has not read it, I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteWill close for now as it is lunch time. Love, and God's blessings to all. Mary JO
