Hello
I have a few minutes today but nothing very exciting going on. Just so Mike and Tom knows, Kathe and I are still waiting to make our August plans as Mary will be hopefully getting our family that room rate for those who want to stay overnight. I am gearing toward staying over Sunday night and hopefully getting back to Chicago perhaps later on Monday eve. Kathe and I promise to keep in touch re what transport and etc we will need to corroborate on.
Patty Streicher has a birthday on the 18th as I just found out on the Geni Tree. If you have not looked there yet, you are missing out on a real treasure of family history! There is a place to easily send birthday messages to all family members whose birthdays are posted on theGeni Tree.
I am posting a few pictures of the trip into Chi town again as one of the other blogmeisters is now called the blogmesser (we know who that is) seemed to have erased my photos. Seems he needs more lessons on photo pasting and family negotiations. OK Pat You deserved that one!!
I for one hope you are still tuning in one and all and at least reading this thing. Some of our younger generation were on for a while so I hope we see a resurgence in their interest as well.
This Sat eve I am having a wine tasting in my house. Seems Pat and MJ and Kathe and apparently Karen and myself and a buddy celebrating her birthday are going to be here. I dropped an invite to Em and of course Alicia but they have a rather more exciting life of choices in the city..how could that be??...ha ha Our clocks are now changed so I need another guest to help me finally change the clock above my fireplace which only just got changed about a month ago...and on it goes.
Hope you are all having a great Lenten period and have a church that offers the rainbow of wonderful stuff that mine does..Who knew I would be interested in Church stuff 10 years ago??? Guess this is poetic justice !!!!! Keep in touch you bums....Love and hugs peggy
Thanks for more of the ice sculpts, Peg. Its nice to see what is going on in the windy city.
ReplyDeleteHere in the south, we are enjoying spring trying to show itself, with forsythia, daffodills, and some of the flowering fruit trees blossoming. Who knows what havoc the drought has placed on our vegetation. We are still quite devoid of rain quotas for this time of year.Any bit of wind topples our pines like toothpicks with no apparent reason.
I had never read Dickens, "Great Expectations", but saw it performed onstage at our Roswell, community theatre last weekend. It was fantastic. It had a lot to say about how choices made in our youth can have long term ramifications in later life.
Just bought A NEW EARTH,by TOLLE, but havent delved into it yet.Wonder if Mary has read it?
After all the buzz, I bought it
for a friend's birthday, last week and decided it would be interesting to compare our observations on it, so got a copy for myself. Trouble is, my friend has more time to read than I do, so will be off and running way ahead of me. No, I am not checking into Oprah's website about it.
Happy St. Patricks Day to all of you irish people. I love celebrating the day, even if I am irish, only by proxy. My friend who had the birthday is a Shanahan, so irish through and through. Are the Lennon-O'Rourkes having any celebrations for all of you?? Seems strange to have St.Pattys day in the midst of Holy Week. That doesnt happen very often.
In fact, the Vatican has approved the Irish Bishops request, that the Feast of St Patrick, be celebrated on saturday the 15th instead of monday, this year and St.Joseph's feastday as well. So saturday is the official day for both. Our Joseph has two reasons to celebrate that day.I cant think of two guys Id rather celebrate the lives of than Saints Joe and Pat!!!!
So get out your green beer and corned beef cabbage and go for it.
May the wind be at your back, may your troubles all be small ones, may the road rise up to meet you, and may God always hold you in the palm of his hand! Love, Bonnie
