  3. Hi everybody,
    Congratulations Jo and Bob and
Mary and Ed on your 49th
    anniversaries. It is certainly
something to be very proud of!!
    Also, Jo and Bob, congratuations
    on your new grandbaby!
Jenny, it was so fun actually
having a niece contribute to the
    blog!!!
I wanted to update everyone on
two of our three military boys.
Kevin has been put on seizure
    medication, and the Army is
    having him wait three months
before going on with the next
phase of his officer training to make sure he does not experience any more seizures (which he
should not because he is on
    the medication). Then, he will
join up with the next class in
    February. Apparently x-rays
    did not show any tumors.
    So that is good news!
    I talked with Brett yesterday
    after coming back from a
    deadly mission. Two of his
    buddies were killed when they
    were attacked. Brett is the
gunner for his unit, and he
    apparently stood up and chased
    the Taliban away with his
machine gun and has now earned
a Medal of Valor. He asked me
to ask the family to continue
    with prayers. (Fred, Brett is
aware that you are doing a 54-
day Novena for him, Kevin and
    Christian.) He said prayers
and his faith in God is the only
    thing keeping him going right
now. I am asking if any of you
reading this would do him and his
buddies a favor. Brett states over and over again that those in his
Battalion feel they are in the "Forgotten War".
Having lost two of their own
should make all of us pause and
    realize the sacrifice these
    guys are making. (They also
just lost another two to the
    mental ward at Walter Reed
because they "lost it" as they
    were returning from leave.)
For Thanksgiving, I would be most
grateful if you would send a
card or note to not only Brett
but a note or card for the
    whole unit. They are in
    mourning, and I would like
them to know that we really do
    care back here. Brett's
    address is:
    Brett Perry
    Battle 2-503
    Korengal Outpost
    AP-AE 09354
    Thank you so much.
I also just found out that
The New York Times is embedded
    with Brett's Battalion, and
there will be stories in the
    newspaper beginning in November
or December. So be sure to
    watch for that!
    I certainly enjoyed our
    wonderful family reunion in
October. We are so lucky to
all be able to still get
together. I love you all so
much and feel so blessed to
    belong to this family.
My girls are doing fine. They
have just arrived at the house,
and Peg is joining us to go to
a local pumpkin farm. It is
a crisp, beautiful fall day -
    just perfect for such an
    activity!
    Everybody stay in touch. We
need to hear from more of you
    on the blog!!!
    Love and prayers,
    Kathe
