Thanks Peg for the excellent pictures. We were so blessed by being present for the engagement party and the time to visit you and everyone else while in Chicago. It turned out to be a weekend that we could get away from here and it was more than well worth it. Thanks for your warm hospitality as our stay with you was really special. We more than enjoyed ourselves at the engagement party and met so many wonderful people. The food and drinks were exceptional - in fact they both kept us there longer than we expected. We thoroughly enjoyed the visits to both Pat & Kathe's new homes. They were great visits and beautiful homes. You guys coming in for the family reunion are going to have great places to stay!! It was a special treat having Julie & Chelsea at the party and their stay overnight before leaving for Clinton on Sunday morning. We all had a great dinner at an Italian restaurante Sunday eveing. Our drive home on Monday was flawless - a little less than four hours. It was truely a great break-away for us. We are now looking forward to the visit from Mary & Ed. Hot & humid day here today but nice this evening. Hope all is well with everyone. God bless you all. Love, Fred & Beth
Hello! We (all the MN cousins and relatives) want to congratulate Alicia and Norm ono their engagement. So great to see all the pictures of the event, and thought Bret looks great-and very fit. So surprised to see Fred and Beth at the party. Great that they could attend. Thanks again Peg for getting this on the blog. Then we can all take part vicariously.)
We are packing up for our last 10 day hurrah at the lake. All the kids will join us except Chris's family. (They have to take Lyz back to college this week-end and have other plans.) Today Ed and I had tinkered with the idea of going to the MN State Fair, but I still had too much to do to get ready for leaving in the morning for the lake. Paul was gooing to go with us, and he soujnded very disappointed last night-so I have a bit of a heavy heart. But I really do not know if I have the ump to be out there roaming around all day. I have just baked brownies, and have an angel cake in oven so we can celebrate Sue's birthday on Sunday. This afternoon, I will shop Cub.
Just wanted to touch base with you all before we leave. We will go back for the last time on the 12th, and help Sue close out on the 13th and we will close out on the 14th. On the 19th, Paul, and Ed and I will join Cathy and Guy on the houseboat way up north along the Canadian border at Rainy and Crane lakes (for 4 days). That should be an experience!!!
After we return on Sunday, the 23rd, I leave on Tuesday, the 25 to 27 for my annual Ignatian retreat. So September is a very busy month for me.
I really look forward to hearing about all of you and reading everyone's blog entries. So Thanks.
Once again Peg, thanks for all your input to keep us updated on the Lennon Legacy in Chicago. Loved seeing all the photos of the engagement party and especially the happy couple. Sure would have loved to have been there. Mary, it sounds like you and Ed are just in a whirlwind of retirement but how wonderful that you can enjoy all the time with the children. Someone please tell Julie, I still havent seen that Clinton Herald photo of Kevin at graduation from Fort Benning. How nice that she could make it into Chicago with Chelsea. Update on Joseph, he has been sunning on the white beaches of Crete and is now on a trek north back towards Brno, with stops in Bulgaria, Belgrade, and then back to teaching. Love to all, Bonnie
Great photos, Peggy. Even having been at the party, it is fun to see pix of people I missed visiting with. Though Tom was feeling pretty sick--he sees a doctor this week--we really enjoyed visiting with everyone. Alicia and Norb looked very happy with family around to celebrate their upcoming marriage. Norb's parents threw a wonderful party. And Brett and Kevin both looked great and seem happy with their Army careers. Heard from Christian last Saturday evening. He is in Army training in VA and will go to Fort Hood,TX when that's completed. He chose to train in driving petro tankers and refueling. However, he will put in for more "specialized" work when he arrives at Ft. Hood. Of course, the special work he would like to do would be just as nerve-wracking for me as the thought of him driving large petroleum trucks around Iraq. For all of you who asked about him at the party, it was good to be able to tell him of your inquiries and best wishes for him. Everyone else in my family is well. I am still on medical leave and recovering more slowly than I ever thought. Peggy has been wonderful in helping care for me with weekly adjustments, and I am doing everything else I can think of to recover my health and energy. I see my doctor in a couple of weeks. No other news from here. Tom and I pray all of you continue to do well. Lots of love, Roseanne
