Happy Birthday Alicia!!
Kathe came over with Emily fixin' to have a deck party for Alicia's birthday which is July 2...We grilled pork chops and had her favorite cake and Norb came over and did a good job being the patient boyfriend.( fiance')....It was a glorious day ...we ended with a walk around the neighborhood and I could not help but think of those walks we all used to do over at the farm when we would walk down the country road toward's Bates house....Brett had called and of course Kathe shared the disastrous encounter he had with the "wrong" news...Today is the fourth so hopefully I will see some of my siblings today and because of the rain we are not sure what is what...hop onto the blog now folks and continue to update on your Holiday..Love to all of you on this great Fourth of July day off!!! Love m

Happy Birthday Alicia, you can certainly celebrate your birthday with a bang.
ReplyDeleteJust got an e-mail from your cousin Joe, who has been in Salzburg for 3 days and is leaving today to travel through the Alps by train and on to Venice, with his friend ZuZa. They are camping on a campground in Venice. Sure hope its not soggy, Ha Ha.
Hope all you windy city Lennons have a great 4th. Love, Bonnie
My B'Day wishes to Alicia as well. Fred & Beth left this early a.m. for home.We had a great visit. They arrived 3:00a.m. (yes, a.m.!) Sat. got some sleep and went with us to Steves in-laws party on Jamestown. Food, food and then food!! They live on water so we could watch boats, etc. while drinking and eating. Came home fat and happy. Sunday we hit early Mass and then our friends joined us and we took our boat out to see the Tall Ships depart Newport. What a site. All day on water, then home for grilled ribs and wine.We slept in Mon. then went to water side again and visited the well known Aunt Carries for clam cakes & chowder. Took coastal route home and had home made ice cream on way. Went to Duffys (Peg & Kathy should remember) and had lobster, shrimp, scallops, and fish for dinner. Tues. we went to winery while touring Rhode Island. Stopped and bought chowder in Bristol, RI and brought home to eat with Lindas great pasta/shrimp dish. Weds. Fred helped me tackle my sprinkler problems followed by ribeyes from grill. We crashed early so Fred & Beth could get up early this morning. All in all, a very nice time. Hope all of you had as good a time with family and friends. Pat & MJ house looks nice. We will probably not attend the family thing in Oct. as the business will be still going. Love to all.

PS: Keep up the good work on the blog Peg
I will try to squeeze this in between all our activities going on since our return from beautiful Rhode Island and wonderful hospitality of Ed and Linda. Ed has pretty well described all the great things we did while there. We can tell you that Ed and Linda did a great job of updating their kitchen with granite counter-tops, wine cooler, gorgeous stove and upgrade of two bathrooms. Linda has incorporated her mother's antique furniture pieces beautifully with their own furniture. The rushing waters feeding koi pond in the backyard were very relaxing. We had perfect sunny weather and cool breezes almost all the time except intermittant rain on July 4th and the first hour on our return trip to home. Our trip out took 14-hours as we had big construction going on in Michigan (took extra hour and half just to get out of Michigan) and then about a 45-minute delay trying to cross the George Washington bridge in New York at 12:30am) but the New York lights were great. Return trip took about 12 and a half hours as we avoided New York and traffic was much lighter. Ed is a true ship captain as he handled the boat with great expertise as we really enjoyed watching the Tall Ships leave the Bay. Now we have to go on diets to lose all the weight we put on due to lavish eating. Yesterday morning I had to do the First Friday Communions, then get home to mow the lawn which was well above the ankles. Then last night we had the baptism of Nora Bernadette with a huge feast at Albert & Becky's house - where there were over 70 young kids, the product of good, holy families. A little later this afternoon we have to leave to celebrate the renewal of wedding vows for a couple married for 50-years. We only had one phone message when we got home and it was from the sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist asking me to assist the bishop for a number of girls making their first profession of vows on August 6. You talk about being blessed!!! I might add this is an even greater day as we celebrate Pope Benedict's Motu Proprio allowing the wider use of the old Latin rite of Holy Mass. Our pastor is delighted and is already training to celebrate this Holy Mass. I cannot express in words the significance of this in the renewal of the Church. I understand the Pope is also going to be issuing a document on July 10th reinforcing the reality that the Holy Roman Catholic Church is the one and only true Church of Jesus Christ. As I have said before, I am now seeing the spring-time of the Church that Pope JPII talked about and that is exciting to us. By the way, we loved the pictures of Pat & MJ's new home - it really looks beautiful. When do you guys finally move in? We are praying it all goes smoothly for you. Also we concur in Ed's comments about the great job you do in keeping up this blog site, Peg!! Looking forward to Mary and Ed's visit this way (and anyone else who wants to come). Do let us know some dates so we can try to protect our calendar. Will close for now. Love to you all - Deacon Joe
