Brett's New Addres

Hi everybody,
I just got Brett's address, and thought I would share it with you:

Brett Perry, Battle 2-503
Korengal Outpost APO-AE
09354

I'm sure he would deeply appreciate (as would I) any communication he
can get from family and the outside world! Thanks in advance for
touching his heart with your wonderful, supportive messages of love.
Peggy, Roseanne, and I are meeting this morning and heading out for lunch.
It's sooooo nice to have that sister time together. Peg went with me to one
of my colleague's wedding last night. It was outdoors, and it was a perfectly
beautiful, glorious summer evening in Chicago! I L O V E being here!!
My thoughts and prayers are always of you all. I hear Jo and Bob and Mary
and Ed are coming to Chi Town in October. I think we should plan a family
reunion! What do ya think?!
Love and prayers,
Kathe

  4. I am still trying to catch my breath but life just keep moving along - thank God!! I had to pull together a Corpus Christi Procession group so we could do the Procession on Sunday after our Noon Holy Mass. Friday was rehearsal with my 13 altar boys, First Communicants, K of C, etc. Then Sunday, I stayed at Church after the 8:30am Holy Mass to prepare everything for the Procession. This was a first for this Parish and we ended up with over 200 people - what a success!! I got home around 3pm, just in time for the celebration of all the June birthdays and Father's Day - so everyone was here and what a great time we all had. Then we all had to head out of our home by 5:30pm to be at a dance recital at a local school. Between that and the Confirmation on June 5th of Abigail Cousino, I realized these little grandchildren of ours are not so little - they truly are young ladies!!! I had Meg and Gabrielle on each of my arms walking to the car and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Today I had a meeting with the Corpus Christi group to critique Sunday and prepare for next year. Last Thursday, the Faraj family treated us to a dinner at a very nice Irish pub to celebrate Isabella's birthday - it was really special. Tomorrow, the Cousino family is taking us to the Toledo Zoo. All we can say is God is good as we love every minute of it!! Mary we are waiting to hear from you especially regarding any information concerning Julie and the doctors. Praying that all went well. Peg and Kathe, we need you guys here on Friday, July 6th when Nora Bernadette Lennon will be baptized to help clean up after the party - are you planning to come????? Hope everyone out there is doing well. God bless you all. Love, Deacon Joe

  5. Soldier Update
I FINALLY got to talk with Brett last night, and he told me that we need to take the "KUNAR PROVINCE,
AFGHANISTAN" part out of the address I gave you, or any communication may go to some central location in the Province and never get to him. It was so good to hear his voice, but hard to hear how difficult it is over there. To give you a clue
as to his situation, his chaplain told him to rest assured - that he
is probably serving his Purgatory now. He's been there two weeks, and his unit has already lost a soldier. He said 99% of the time
it is boring and 1% of the time it is terrifying. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
    Love, Kathe

  7. Hi Everyone. We are off to the lake for a week after supper tonight. Before then I have umpteen things to accomplish, foremost of which is to pot my plantss in patio pots and go to store and shop for groceries. But I will try to make a quick comment.

I am assuming that the latest addition to Tim's family is Nora Bernadette. Fred, Jo and I looked back over all blog correspondence and never did see the announcement of her birth. But I think now I have it figured out!! Congrats to Tim and Sheila, and blessings on little

We had a great visit with Jo and Bob. It was so nice to see her family. The kids came over and visited with their children. They have nice families. It was fun to see what they are doing with their lives. Now we look forward to a trip to Chi Town over Oct 6 and 7 and then on to Fred's for a few days.

We are not going to drive to Ed's this year, but Sue wants to come to visit Ed and Linda on a prolonged week-end after a trip to her home office in Connecticut- in October-to see the leaves!!! I will encourage her to get in touch with you people soon to see if that is a possibility. So Ed, I am sorry, and hate to disappoint you. When we first planned the trip, I thought Sue would help with the driving (which she quickly told us she could not take that much time off work). The leaf sighting was her idea, not ours. We think we have plenlty of fall colors right around here and on the North Shore. But sometime, Ed and I (and probably Sue) will fly out for some time in New York and plan to get over to see you guys for a day or two. No date set for that at this time, but is a trip I envision in the next year or so. Perhaps next spring.

Went with Julie to see her neurologist in Davenport on our return trip from Jo and Bob's. It was to check up on her seizure meds. She has not had a ny more seizures, but has been aware of waking up and biting her lip or cheeks a few times. No one says these are seizure incidents, but could mean some medicine deficiency. The important information we learned was the now that she is on generics, research has shown that absorbtion of the medication ranges between 85% and 125%, so he upped her one pill a day to cover that issue. I found that piece of information interestiing and wonder to what extent that is pertinent to other generics we all take? Maybe not at all but something to ask about when we switch to generics. Julie seems resigned to the loss of Pat and Mary Jo in Clinton. She has a good support group of people at work. Bev seems to keep tabs on her. She has her own iden tity in Clinton and will do fine in spite of really missing them. Thiings are moving along here. Paul has shingles on his back but apparently not much pain -for which we thank God. Cathy has recovered from her serious Staph infection that did not respond to the first round of treatment. Sue seems to have a llittle better control of her insuliln needs-not perfect yet, but some better. Thanks Fred for the prayers. I joined you with my own novena prayers. Phil and Deb are busy, but seem to be doing ok. Phil 's company was bought out by Mororola about six months ago and he is much happier working for this new management.

Chris's Becky is in a performance this week of Midsummer Night's Dream and has some solo parts and sings in a couple quartetts. So we hope to attend on Sunday afternoon. It will be pricy tickets so we are gullping, but who could miss ths.Chris, Patty, Liz, patty's niece, Bob Fleege's son and daughter-in-law are all running in Grandma's Marathon on Saturday: some are doing the half marathon and others the whole run. That is one busy family!!!

Those are the highlights. I am still experiencing trouble with my shoulder, neck and arm.Painful. Had an MRI on Thursday so at least we may be closer to understanding what is causing the pain. Pain is wearing. Ed has to have some peridontal work done July 12. I will likely go ono insulin after the October trip and the lake season is over to get better control of my blood sugars. Guess that comes with being 72!! I'm doing some good reading-when there is time. Ed goes to Madison June 31-Aug 1. His present project should be nearing completion by August. He may pick up another small one with another company, but it shouldn't take as much time. Love, Maryfive.

  8. Mary, you and Jo need new glasses or maybe it is age. If you really go back and look at the blog sites, you will see all the info. Even Bonnie missed it but then found it - but, of course, she is younger than you guys!!! Also, Mary, if you want incredible reading, do read Pope Benedicts's "Jesus of Nazareth"!!!!! And a special thanks for the update on everything - especially Julie. To be honest with you, I knew she would do fine in Clinton as she really does have her own life and does very well with it. She has great friends. By the way, our trip to the Toledo Zoo yesterday has required about half of today to recover - these young people love that sun and walking!!!! Love to all. Love, Deacon Joe

  9. Mary, sorry to hear you're not coming for a visit.Do have Sue get in touch with us if she will be visiting. We hope she will make it. Running a business requires a little advance planning.
We are delighted that Fred & Beth are coming for a visit on 4th of July. Our people agreed to work a couple of Sat. so we could have a 5 day holiday from 6/30 to 7/5. Tall ships are here so hope to take boat over to see them when they parade out of Newport. Kathy, we will be having lobster in honor of you!! Out of shell, of course!!
We are going to Steves' for Fathers Day and wish all my family a great Fathers Day! Linda had biopsy on liver done and still not sure what's going on. Could be hepatitas or cyrossis. Cause unknown. She is going to a specialist in Boston for another opinion. This could put her knee replacement on hold.
Everyone else is well. I'm slowly getting strength back in shoulder and that is good.Love to all.
    Bro Ed
