Kathe's Updates

Hi everyone,
I had trouble getting on the blog from my own computer, so, since I'm at Peggy's, I
had her get me on so I can update you with my family news.
I got my teacher contract/position renewed last week, so that makes me pretty
happy!!! It was awfully scary just picking up and leaving my secure job in Freeport,
but this has been a great change for me, and I'm so happy I did it!!
I spoke to Brett today for the last time before he leaves for his deployment to the
Kunar Province of Afghanistan tomorrow. He assured me that he is prepared physically,
mentally, and spiritually and that the rest is now in God's hands. I have joined a
wonderful military family support group, and they have helped wipe away my many
tears. I do ask all of you to put him (and all the other soldiers) on your prayer
list. A few rosaries wouldn't hurt, either!
Alicia got engaged last Friday, so there will be a wedding in the family on October 25,
2008 (Jo and Bob, I understand that is YOUR wedding date!). We are very pleased
with her fiance. She has had to postpone the wedding in hopes that Brett can get back from his deployment by then. Even though it is a long way away, be sure to mark your calendars for that date.
Emily is still working for McGraw-Hill and is busy volunteering with the cancer society.
It is sooooo nice being in here with the girls, Peggy, and now Pat & MJ. I wish we could
see more of Roseanne, but it's just nice knowing she's in here too. I went to see the
outside of Pat and MJ's new duplex, and it is really, really nice. It is in a GREAT
location. I am so happy for them...although I will miss having a roommate!!!
Mary - Peggy and I just attempted to call you for your birthday, but you weren't home.
We started to sing to you, but then we got cut off (it's probably better that way!! ha).
Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! May you be blessed with many more!!
I miss seeing all of you. Since we don't have a wedding until the end of next year, we
should make a point to plan some sort of gathering sometime this year. Anybody
interested?
God bless all of you. It's nice to keep up with all of you through the blog. I'm glad we
have this opportunity to stay connected.
Take care.
Love and prayers,
Kathe

  2. Kathe, Thanks for your update on Alicia and Brett's plans. We will keep Brett in our prayers and know that with all these cousins and aunts and uncles to pray for him, he will most definitely be in God's hands.
My only news is that my eldest granddaughter will be graduating on June 8, Amanda. Spoke with my son-in-law, Bob today and he said they are even experiencing the smoke remnants up in N.C. We had what they called a code orange, one day last week at school, when the smoke was like a fog-haze over our playgrond so we could not allow the children outdoors to recess.
This morning, when I left for Mass, I put up my garage door and could not believe the smokey smell, Thought at first it was my neighbor starting his barbeque for the holiday meal, but as I left my driveway, and noticed that the whole neighborhood had the haze of smoke, I then thought there must have been a house on fire in the vicinity, It took me until I left my subdivision to realize that it was another day of south Georgia wildfires smoke invading us. Hard to believe that it can be that strong this far from the fires. I cant imagine how they breathe when they live within 50 miles of the fires. Its all pretty scarry.
Hope you all will remember our veterans this holiday weekend and offer prayers of thanksgiving for all they have offered for our wellbieng. Love and God bless, Bonnie
